Westerville Puts Safety First for 4th Friday

 

Staying safe has never been so much fun! Enjoy great food, great fun and great shopping in Uptown Westerville during the 4th Friday Safety Fest, June 27, 2008, from 6-9pm.

Learn more about car seat safety, tornado safety, public health, bike safety, fire safety, crime prevention and much more at the 5th Annual Safety Fest, sponsored by the Westerville Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Westerville Divisions of Fire and Police.

Participating agencies include Children’s Hospital, Franklin County’s Emergency Management Agency, Franklin County Children’s Services, Franklin County Board of Health, Westerville Communications, Westerville Animal Control and other Central Ohio agencies.
          Kids can climb in a fire truck, sit in a police car and meet with stay-safe pals Sparky and Officer Big Man. Plus the Westerville Public Library will offer story time and Westerville Parks and Recreation will be on hand as well. Children can blow off steam in a bounce house sponsored by the Westerville Christian Academy will also enjoy puppet shows by the Westerville Puppet Posse.

Take advantage of extended hours in the Uptown shops, browse the wares of a variety of street vendors, and grab dinner at one of Uptown’s quaint eateries or at the Sertoma Brat Wagon.

Musical entertainment will include Mind’s Eye on the AAA Ohio Auto Club Music Stage beginning at 6pm. From 7-8:30pm, The Arts Council of Westerville music stage will fill with the bluegrass sounds of Tyler and Marty, sponsored by the Westerville Electric Division/AMP-Ohio. The Arts Council will also showcase a jazz duo and euphonium trio throughout the evening.
