Great Weather for 4th Friday Season Opener

Historical Uptown Westerville came alive in a big way last Friday. April 25th marked the kick off of spring with the first 4th Friday Celebration of the season. Uptown was “Alive with Art, Alive with History and Alive with Shopping.”

Uptown’s streets were full of patrons enjoying all the food, entertainment and fun that Westerville has to offer. Agent 99 and the Ain't Misbehavin' Dixieland Band entertained dancing crowds on both ends of town while the Westerville Police and Fire departments educated children about safety. Generations dance studio kept a growing crowd interested with outdoor performances in front their studio on College Avenue. All this took place while crowds meandered through the streets enjoying extended shopping hours in the many Uptown shops and a wide array of offerings from our street vendors.

The weather stayed lovely to help make the first 4th Friday of the season a success. An estimated 2600 people made it out to enjoy all the festivities, doubling the number of attendees from last year’s event.

Imagine a network of well-informed, committed and involved citizens working together to advance Westerville. That's the vision behind Leadership Westerville, a nine-month community leadership development program.

The Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Westerville, Westerville City Schools, Otterbein College and the Westerville Public Library are working in partnership to offer the program. From it will come a dedicated group of civic leaders who understand key issues facing the community. Each will be committed to cultivating the city's future through personal involvement and a willingness to serve.

The core values of respect, responsibility, attitude, honesty, fairness, caring, reliability, trust, loyalty, tolerance, and citizenship will drive all the work we do together.
