The Democratic National Committee has announced that CNN and The New York Times will co-host the party’s fourth presidential debate at Otterbein University.

The debate will air live from the Rike Center on October 15. CNN anchors Anderson Cooper and Erin Burnett, as well as New York Times National Editor Marc Lacey will serve as the debate moderators.
“This is a historic opportunity for our students to join in the democratic process,” said Otterbein President John Comerford. “This university has a proud history of growing an informed, engaged citizenry. Our students will have a front row seat to the power of democracy.”

The Westerville Visitors & Convention Bureau is happy to welcome the candidates, the media and all interested citizens to our community for this historic event. For those who are unable to get tickets there are plenty of local establishments for you to enjoy while you watch the debate. While you are in town we also have great shops and parks for you to explore.

Road closures will be in effect from 9am on Tuesday, October 15th until 1am, Wednesday, October 16th. Closures include areas closer to campus, such as:

  • Main St from Knox to West
  • Grove St from Park to Home
  • Home St between State and West

There will be no parking in the following areas during the same time frame:

  • N. West St
  • Broadway (no parking from October 8th until end of event)
  • Home St, Executive Ct, Directors Ct
  • City Hall Parking Lot (behind 21 and 29 S State St)
Here are other important tidbits concerning the debate.
  • The debate is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15th from 8pm-11pm
  • Police presence will include traditional patrol, bike patrol and horse patrol as well as officers from other agencies.
