Beer, Wine & Spirits in Westerville
During the late 1850s, Westerville became well known for their opposition to the sale and consumption of alcohol. They soon became one of the first communities to ban stores from selling alcohol and was once known as the "Dry Capital of the World", after the Anti-Saloon League of America moved its headquarters and printing company, American Issue Publishing Company, here in 1909. The League printed so much anti-alcohol material in support of temperance and prohibition (over 40 tons of mail per month) that Westerville became the smallest town in the nation to have a first-class post office.
The city is dry no more and offers a variety of options for beer, wine and spirits in Westerville. From the first brewery opened after the city lifted the dry ban, to the only urban winery in Westerville, come visit, grab a drink and take a stroll in the city's DORA.
