Your Guide to Memorial Day Weekend in Westerville
Memorial Day is a time for reflection to honor those that lost their lives serving and defending our country. Westerville is no different and offers many opportunities to remember while also participating in other activities throughout the city. Below is your guide to exploring Westerville and honoring those that gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country this Memorial Day weekend.
MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS:
Field of Heroes
May 24-27, 2024
The annual Field of Heroes takes place each Memorial Day weekend in Westerville where Central Ohioans remember and honor their personal heroes. Located at the Westerville Sports Complex (and Veterans Memorial Park), visitors reflect and honor these heroes with flag displays, reading of names, concerts, a 5K run/walk and more, concluding with the Memorial Day ceremony.
4th Friday Festival
May 24 | 6-9 p.m.
The main street in Westerville shuts down to traffic every 4th Friday evening from May to October in Uptown Westerville. Guests enjoy entertainment, food trucks, pop-up vendors, restaurants and retail shopping. The May 4th Friday will feature the Don Norman band, Arts Alley showcasing work on display and crafts for kids, and Science Street offering interactive science demos.
Farmer's Market
May 25 | 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Rise and shine and head over to the Saturday Farmer's Market to pick up local fruits and vegetables or get some goodies from local Westerville vendors. The weekly Farmers Market brings Central Ohio grown food and farm products and prepared foods and treats to the Westerville community on Saturday mornings May through September behind the Westerville City Hall building.
Uptown Art & Clay
May 25 | 6-9:30 p.m.
Uptown Art & Clay is a creative art studio hosting create and sip classes throughout the year. PLACES TO VISIT:
First Responders Park
Westerville’s First Responders Park was first dedicated in 2010 to honor the service and sacrifice of all first responders. The centerpiece to the park was a section of steel known as “C-40” from the north tower of the World Trade Center that fell during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Veterans Memorial Park
The Westerville Veterans Memorial at the Westerville Sports Complex blends history, culture, art and recreation with the existing sports environment at the Westerville Sports Complex to create a new signature space to honor and celebrate those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
